Compensation of Verdet Constant Temperature Dependence by Crystal Core Temperature Measurement
Compensation of the temperature dependence of the Verdet constant in a polarimetric extrinsic Faraday sensor is of major importance for applying the magneto-optical effect to AC current measurements and magnetic field sensing. This paper presents a method for compensating the temperature effect on the Faraday rotation in a Bi12GeO20 crystal by sensing its optical activity effect on the polariza...
متن کاملTemperature dependence of long wavelength semiconductor lasers
We compare the temperature dependent characteristics of multiple quantum well semiconductor laser diodes and light emitting diodes operating at a wavelength, /z = 1.3 ,um. No model in which Auger recombination is the dominant temperature sensitive parameter can explain our experimental observations. We suggest that net gain is the appropriate temperature dependent variable which determines lase...
متن کاملEffective Verdet constant in a terbium-doped-core phosphate fiber.
The concept of an effective Verdet constant is proposed and experimentally validated. The effective Verdet constant of light propagation in a fiber includes contributions from the materials in both the core and the cladding. It is measured in a 25 wt.% terbium-doped-core phosphate fiber to be -6.2+/-0.4 rad/(Tm) at 1,053 nm, which is six times larger than silica fiber. The result agrees well wi...
متن کاملTemperature dependence of I-V characteristics of C60 molecule
Making use of a generalized Green’s function technique and Landauer formalism, the temperature depended current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of C60 molecule, sandwiched between two metallic electrodes are numerically investigated. In addition, the influence of the electron-phonon coupling strength on the electronic properties of the molecule is studied. The I-V characteristics of the molecule ...
متن کاملRayleigh type behavior of the Young’s modulus of unpoled ferroelectric ceramics and its dependence on temperature
The dependence on stress of the low frequency Young’s modulus and mechanical losses of unpoled ferroelectric ceramics has been studied as a function of temperature. The Young’s modulus of unpoled Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 ~PZT! showed a Rayleigh type dependence, analogous to the one already described for the longitudinal piezoelectric coefficient. This has been associated to ferroelectric/ ferroelastic domai...
